Great Night Race (drive) Woodhill

This is going to be
so much fun ....A race through the night at Woodhill forest over gravel roads and piss easy sand tracks.
Organised by the Auckland Off road racing club
http://www.aucklandoffroadracing.co.nz/ the date has changed to 20th November 2010 . Class 6 especially for the winch challenge trucks and is a great fun class.
Two weeks ago at Maramarua forest class 6 was represented by Kerrie Louie, Jason Delehunty, Steve Mc Connell and Darryn Bell at a similar style race namely the Peter Howell memorial race (drive). Typically I used a tank of gas, broke a tail light, forgot my lunch (was very excited to go out for the day) and drove hard all day. Raced cheap, finished with a huge smile.
Because the challenge rules around safety, wof and reg are the basic requirements its never been easier for us winch guys to come have a go and get some air ! Also good driving time behind that steering wheel.
So... come and have a go try out 4th gear for a while... any questions just ask. The entry fee I think is $100.00 it may be more just check the link to auckland offroad racing site for the updates and entry forms.
You will need... usual challenge gear like cage, helemet, extingusher then ditch the plasma rope, highlift, n shackels etc bolt on some lights (big is good) . The seat belts need to have split pins in the fastenings at the vehicle end small mod there. You can run ya 35's I don't though as don't have GG's to do that so run smaller tyres. Oh and fancy race overalls are
not a must have as they let you race in clean non greasy cotton (mechanics) overalls.
Oh, I forgot to mention, its all done and dusted by 10pm the rece starts in the daylight. So, go grab a big box of fun, don't forget to ask mum if you can come and play.

Bugger. We are in club class so we dont need WOF or rego. Sounds like it would be a good event lots o fun. Next thing on the never ending list is to get our truck certed so we can do that type of stuff

Thats ok, its even easier for you as there is class 2 and class 8 for you. Class to 2 is standard production no wof or reg required vehicle has to have standard suspension geometry after market shocks and springs are ok. Then if your over horsepower and have made changes to the motor etc then class 8 is the place for you. You still race for overall positions and your class so you get to line up and qualify against the winch trucks just the same. So come along and have some fun cheers.

Im pretty sure you can just get a day license to cover you under the indemnity risk policy held for the event. So if you burn down forest you get to keep your shirt.... anyway if your keen I can firm that up and get the price for that. Cheers

With a bit of help from some sponsors and the Auckland Offroad racing guys and gals this event is going to be just for you....
Why, well the entry fee is $150 and for non members no comp license etc add $45 for insurance and access fee's etc for the event.
Going through the scrutineering for class 6 and 8 thats 4x4's winch challenge rules apply plus- these are the differences i can see from winch challennge safety rules- Spark arestor ( mesh over exhaust pipe exit) , Food pack, 1st aide kit with a survival blankets 1 x for each occupant ( purchase from Chemist for $10) , safety goggles carried (in case screen breaks), Orange dust light wired into the tail light head light circuit 85mm, Kill switch, harness belts with split pins holding mounting clips shut, wof and reg for class and no wod and reg for class 8 .
Check out the web site aucklandoffroadracingclub.co.nz for entry form. So, Novemver 20th you come for a drive in the forest with the offroaders and other 4x4's, you might be surprised as to how fast you are.

Its approx 250km of racing, so thirsty V8 guys might need to pitstop for a top up.

Found it, but I don't think I can get it sorted before then, bummer. I'll be ready for the next one though. Always wanted to try the speed and sweet jumps stuff.
