Wrangler 2.8 CRD Power upgrade

Guys and girls, my first post but something I wanted to share.
I have a 2009 Wrangler unlimited 2.8 CRD and have 20000 K's on it. It was returning around 12 to 14 litres per hundred and way worse with my 5 mtr race car trailer on the back.
In the course of our business which is service and repair of jetski's, I have used the sevices of Powerchip in Aus for upgrading the ECU's in our ski's. They offered me a reflash of my jeep in the course of our conversations and sent over the dongle to hook up to the diag port on the jeep.
I downloaded the program and emailed it to them and an hour later it was sent back which I reinstalled.
I then hopped in with the wife and we shot from home which is Papakura to Tauranga at the usual open road speed of 108 kph. The consumption figure steadily went down untill I pulled in to TGA showing 9.2 per hundred. !!!! WOW!!! On the return trip with a ski trailer on the back it went to 9.8 but still a figure I had not seen before.
If you own one of these 2.8 CRD's you will know they like to run at open road speed at 1800 RPM which is bang on the peak torque area and the reflash has increased that by 13% while peak KW by 50 which is 21%. This equates to no change down going up the Bombay hills with my ski trailer and way better passing.
I am keeping the reflash gear in Papakura for a couple of weeks if anyone wants to do thier Jeep. My wife looks at the fuel savings as worth the cost alone but I like the power and the trans not having to shift all the time. Lots of noise and no go was how I felt it was prior.
Anyway if anyone is interested I am kevin@skimd.co.nz
I hope someone finds this interesting.
