Hi All
Been playing with my boost settings and finally Fuel. (after all the exhaust and intercooler stuff)
Have put in an aftermarket boost controller and set it up to boost to just under 13 psi. Just before the cut out activates.
(Real time trials and is nice and quick  )
Now I am tweaking the fuel via the Fuel Spill Valve.
Taken it up 1/2 a turn.
Now it gives a little puff of black when you give it a quick rev, never used to do that.
Now heres the kicker... Its now running cooler on the EGTS when giving it the welly...and on boost.
Cooler when doing 100k's on the motorway.
Dropped a good 50C....plus
I thought it would get hotter???
Going to turn in another 1/4 for the run home later tonight.
But what gives with the temps going down.?? :?
Will a diesel which is way to lean run hotter?? Maybe inefficent.
I thought they did the opposite as a petrol.

Your thoughts Gentlemen and Ladies

I tweaked the fuel up on my truck and the egts were warmer, then upped the boost and the egts are a hell of a lot better, Seems the less black smoke out the back the cooler the egts are.

I think its the efficiency of the burn. more boost means its burning better, so its not working so hard so it doesn't burn as hot.

Black smoke is simply unburnt or not completely burnt fuel.

I may be wrong but I am happy to be corrected otherwise

Black smoke means you have unburnt fuel... so you get higher EGT & poorer fuel economy & less performance

Right on :!:
With too much fuel the burn in the cylinder is incomplete, so carries on burning down exhaust pipe. Hard to lean a diesel out, as this is how you govern the revs
Cheers.
