Old Bugger

G'Day Guys,
I'm a newbie here - an old bugger with a totally stock standard 1993 Samurai that I use on the farm. I love my Samurai with a passion - have owned it for ten years and don't ever want to replace it with anything more powerful or sexy. I get a lot of enjoyment driving it around the farm in marginal conditions. I guess I'm showing my age when I say I don't want to change anything on it or add any mods, I like it just the way it is. I like the feel of driving it in 4WD (good gear ratios) and I'm often surprised at where it will go.

The only work done on her since new is to repair a leaking water pump and replace the radiator core. About five years ago I thought I had cooked the motor when the water drained out of the radiator and she overheated with lots of strange expensive-sounding noises and black smoke coming off the head. But when the head was removed no damage was found and she has gone well ever since. That must be one bullet-proof little motor!

My real username should be "Mad Mac" but I pressed an "s" instead of a "d" on this bloody computer  (maybe the moderator can change me back to Mad Mac?)

Welcome

excellent choice in Vechile.
nothing more enjoyable than driving round well stuck, highly modified fat trucks.

have you removed the front sway bar? makes a huge difference offroad but very little on road.

What's a sway bar? (don't lead me into temptation, I said I wasn't going to change anything!) :)

search for how to post pics. host em on another site like photobucket, resize em and copy the link to here.

swaybar is the piece of steel connected to the bottom of either leaf spring cap thing and the chassis which fights the body leaning etc. helps a lot offroad to take it off by allowing the diff to move easier. Both of our sj's have em removed and they were both fine on the road.

Thanks, that may take a while for me to get my head around. Will work on it.

Hi Mac, don't stress it too much, it's pretty easy, there are sites online dedicated to storing your pictures for you, photobucket is a common one (google it)

You basically upload your photo, it will then give you a link to that photo. You paste that link into a message here and we can all go have a look!

Cheers
Hein
