I saw this install which is using a turboglide kit.

It would seem to be a lot easier to install the water feed/return using the heater hoses they have tapped into.

Any reason why others tap into the thermostat housing and side of the block?

Possibly a bitch to purge as the lines are higher than the fill point on the radiator. Would work though.

Because tapping into the thermostat housing is way less bodgy than cutting and "T"ing into your heater hoses.

That would work ok, but not how I would be doing it

The 130 Series turbo diesel Surf, have factory setup tee into heater hoses for turbo feed/return

I read somewhere, and cant remember for the life of me where. That the 2LTE turbo setup was a complete factory design failure, with very limited research, they slapped the turbo on as a last minute ditch at getting the power up, hence the turbo feeds into the heater lines.

In all honestly i would tap into the thermostat housing and engine block.

fark. post last night didnt go through.

There is nothing wrong with that setup. If you get some kinda airlock with that setup you'd get the same airlock with any other setup.... unless you make your turbo the lowest part of your cooling system hahahaha.

Whats is boogie about it? It will work, its tidy, its easy etc etc etc.

why go through the trauma of drilling and tapping block just for a water line

Well that's what I was thinking. I don't have the tools at home to tap the thermostat housing and I want to do the install myself so I know how everything goes together for future reference.

got mine there but a bit closer to the front on the engine,neat and tidy alot of guys i know have done the same and also on outerlimits,

Can anyone confirm that the water lines on the turbo are not directional.

I'm assuming it doesn't really matter which way the water flows as long as it goes in one side of the turbo and comes out the other?

on mine it does not matter,aint sure about other turbos sorry

it does not matter which way the water flows through- but make it as easy as possible for any air to get out of the core- eg water flowing in from the bottom and out through the top.

I talked to a mechanic a while ago and he told me to make sure the oil is feeding in from the top and draining out of the bottom so the water input/output is going to be horizontal.

that makes sense forgot about the oil taking priority.

Why cut a hose when the fitting in the block is a case of undoing a plug and chucking the hose in there with the right fitting?
And why cut a hose when you can just take out the fitting into the thermostat houseing a fit one with a T for the return?

Seems to me cutting the hoses is quite OK but the other way is really easy and tidier.
