need to get rid of the jap radio.Has kenwood speakers.areial is buggered.Dude for my local DSE store had a panasonic package with 2 x speakers for the barn doors.$235.Looks like a couple of speakers may fit in either front doors, under the E/Windows.Don`t really need the CD.Just AM/FM radio.Preferrably 1 that will slot right into the the space provided.Any issues to be aware of re the 24volt electrics?
Thanx men...

As far as i know everything in the dash except the cigy lighter, tacho and voltmeter is 12 volt so you should be alright. You may want to put a multimeter on your power and acc wires for the stereo to make sure though.

cheerz doddzee, was expecting a reply from either you or DaveM.Wilco that.Back of the import radio may have some volt readings on it maybe.Think the sales rep said speakers were 6.5".Should I try and source an areial from a wreckers,or a repco replacement?

What part of your aerial is broken? I think have an electric areial motor but the areial itself is broken, let me know if it is any good to you and i will see if i can dig it up. It is out of a 12v patrol though so i dont know if it will be any good.

I`ll have a good look tomorrow. But I think it`s just the areial itself.Like broken/ripped off whilst parked up.
Thanx...

Hard yakka.Thanx for that advice.Didn`t bother to ask how much the areials were.Pretty cheap either way.Good news.My small town has it`s 1st supercheap auto crankin` up in 2-3months.good for the locals.BNT do a good job on some product lines though..

if its just the aerial thats snapped, if you can unscrew it, you can just get a new aerial shaft..

If running off the old stereo setup, it'll be 12v. Be aware that the factory reducer may not handle a decent stereo. I run a seperate reducer for the stereo, as it could'nt run the new one.
As for speakers, you will struggle to find ANY replacement front speakers, as they have a mounting depth of around 23mm from memory, unless you put spacers on, as they will foul against the electric windows.
I was going to space mine, but it would mean cutting away the speaker grill on the front doors to do this, which I thought would be ugly.

Replacement masts are around $50, new antenna's are $500, can't get anything aftermarket to fit.
I get all my gear off Trade Me, as there are some great deals on there, and the MP3 makes a huge difference with not having to change discs all the time, and the music is free to download from Limewire.
I also like to listen to a little music off road, which gets expensive when you keep snapping the mast off on trees when listening to the radio

Hope this helps,
Dave

hiya... davem has a point...

when offroadin with an ipod plugged in, ya cant get any 'cd skip'..
thats gotta be one of the most irratating things..
in regards to an aerial, can ya just hook the cable up from the back of your stereo to a cheap replacement aerial jobby but mount it in cab somewhere like inside a roof lining or behind back seats or even hide it somewhere flush so its hidden but still runs the length of the vehicle? just a thought...

good luck..

i was having a close look at the radios in the machines at work and noticed they are 24v they are vdo and built to withstand a dusty enviroment have chunky rubber buttons to handle the knocks and keep the dust out

the ones in the machines at work are radios only but i went for a little look and discovered they make cd and tape players in the same lineup

check it out

i have no idea how much they cost though

I like listening to the TalkBack Stations.Heaps of Live Info.
Though,when out of transmission coverage?
The other mentioned methods seem sound enough....

The little 4" speakers fit the front doors, the Factory reducer powers those and 6 X 9's in my truck with out a problem. The memory wire was the main problem, and i had to run that from my after market reducer.
