I washed my wagon……well a little more than washed.
I went to wash-world for a full underbody blast with the engine wash stuff and hot soapy blast rinse off. Then it was home for some real cleaning!!
Tyres scrubbed including inner sidewalls.
Rims polished with metal polish and buffed including chrome wheel nuts.
Whole body washed down with wax shampoo and rinsed thoroughly then chamosied dry.
Hand buffed with lambswool buffing pad.
Windows polished and new Rain-off applied to windscreen.
Now to do the inside !!
Mats out and seat covers off
Thorough vacuum including all the corners and hard to get to places using the variety of nozzel attachments for the vacuum cleaner.
A wipe of all vinal surfaces with a good cleaning solution then a coat of Armour-all and hand buffed.
Seat covers washed and refitted.
Then a good polish of the inside of the windows.
A quick coat of silicone on the tyres and it looks GREAT !!!! 8)

Overdue maintenance day. Out with the disc-grinder to clean out a couple of rusty bits ready for the panel-beater to weld up next week for a WOF. Then used a whole tube of silicone around the roof seams to try to plug up a few leaky bits. Time will tell..... Underneath to check fluids - gearbox & transfer case & front diff oil nice & clean, with a hint of water in the rear diff. A pleasant surprise since I've been playing is some pretty deep water over the last few weeks. Then a couple of pumps of grease into everything, clean out & re-adjust the rear brake drums. All ready for more abuse again....

Finally did something 4wd related on a weekend that didnt involve just driving it.

Put one free wheeling hub on the right side of the surf. Now I can swap to 4wd at the flick of a switch instead of replacing a blank drive flange. This allowed me to do some more invistigation into what is causing my mysterious noise up front. When the wheel hits a bump such as a cat eye a nice vibration comes on(only noticeable when the hub is engaged) and disapears when the brakes are applied heavily. I believe I have tracked it down to a loose brake pad caused by a siezed cylinder. I will pull it apart maybe next weekend and confirm. If so it will have been a strange one thats for sure. The locker seems to be working and disengaging fine.

Spent saturday moving wood to the woodshed and sunday on the truck. Pulled the left hand half shaft apart to service the CV's and put on a new inner boot and found a bent tie rod. straightened it and put it all back together. Messy day in grease.

    Is that Auckland 4WDing? Taking it to wash world and driving through the muddy water? - Sorry, couldn't resist :D

Notice Muddy cleaned HIS truck with an angle grinder... thats how we do it down here in the South you know :P

Steve

PS: Went down the Ashley for a play for a few hours... first one in about 2 months... had a good stress relief time and found the front driveshaft is still too short... I've been pouring fertilizer on it and everything but it hasn't worked :( Only flopped it out once tho :D

Helped Mike put the supercharger on the lexus V8 in his work van Sat am.

(I shit you not!)

Then got stuck into the side bars which are now all but done. There'll be some pics up tomorrow in the projects thread.

Cheers

A great weekend of recovery work. Chased the Hella Rally of Rotorua again.
Had a good group of six trucks. We had 7 recoveries out of the Motu stage, which was in terrible weather. Had a few moments oursleves of course.

Tried to drive round an oncoming car who decided that stopping in the middle of the road was the best thing to do. I got just a little too close to the ditch on the side and it sucked me in. Had to winch ourselves back on the road.

Sunday was a little more cruisy.. Had one major that involved cutting trees out of the way to avoid further damage to the car.

about a 1000 kms travelled.

Repair list.
One flat tyre
Speedo stopped working. Kind of good in a way.
Injector pump finally started leaking.

Lakes safari this weekend coming. Better get busy.

Sat I got a phone call and Dad offered me lunch, while round there I install new springs and shocks onto my dad's Hilux and now it doesn't fit in the GGE

Problem was I didn't know this was going to be happening  I thought I would get mine done first

What is worse is he is borrowing my ute to go 4wding over queens birthday and mine is std suspension  I offered him my mud tires but he prefers to break my truck, I wondered why he hasn't put recovery hooks on yet...

Replaced my RED rusty old strop dented tailgate on the surf, with a nice shiny WHITE one, surf now looks like a candy cane
Before I replaced the door I had no power to the window switch, run a tempoory supply from battery to switch and window works fine, normal lock/key set up has already been by-passed so power was to switch regardless, my question is does anyone know where the fuse is for the rear window :?:
I have checked fuses at drivers kick panel and all appears fine :?:
