so when i pulled the diesel out the other day my tq converter was bright orange and a REALLY heavy duty looking thing. Wondering if anyone could post a pic of their td42 tq converter. Interested to confirm that its factory as the stall speed did seem fairly high (although no idea what normal stall is)
do trans places test tq converters?

Re: stock safari tq converter
GQ TD42 toque converter stall is 2000rpm. They also have wieghts on the outside of them.
The last TC I had rebuilt and upgraded cost $250 so isn't really worth testing just get it rebuilt.
But if you are doing what I think you are then the TC you want isn't a TD42 one and you will end up with a bigger better one. They are different between the motors as are the bell housing and input shaft. (apparently!)
