Hi all i have a 70 series crusier and want to mount a pintel hook on the rear. My question is, is the rear of the chasey strong enough were the towing loop is? or would it be advisable to strengthen it before mounting the hook.Or would i be better off building brakets and mounting rated hooks in line with the chasey. All opinons weclome. :) cheers

i presume your talking about the 4 bolt towing eye if so the pintle holes are the same .........sorta yes but i tend to make a 10/12mm thick plate to put behind the bumper so its sandwiched ie pintle-bumper-plate
the more area you cover on the inside the better

yeah there pretty piss weak crossmembers that bend and then add in 20-25 years of rust creeping away as well, I've got my pintle mounted on a heavy piece of channel bolted back into the crossmember and tied back to the chassis rails at each end through some brackets

edit*

chassis looks a bit flasher with some bling paint on it now

Good stuff sadam, the channel will be better suited than the flat plate :D shit thats a major transformation with at chassie, good luck with the rest of the resto.
