Snorkel Suction Problem

Just cleaned my air filter last weekend and re sealed the air box and when testing the suction on the snorkel there is almost none

I have taken the whole snorkel off piece by piece and examined all the tubing for holes and there doesent seem to be any. I have also listened to it while running trying to determine were the air might be getting sucked in but cant figure it out from there either. So im wondering is there any other place it could suck in air IE: through vacum hoses or something?

I am going to re - seal all components of the air intake system and put them back in but really cant see there ever being a problem with them in the first place. The engine is the toyota 3.0l V6 3VZ-E Petrol engine and it seems to run as normal with this problem too. Anyone have any thoughts?

THe size of your snorkel is probly 3 to 4 times the size of the inlet manifold so the air speed is 3 to 4 times slower. Hold a piece of rag over the snorkel , see if it gets sucked inward, but dont let it go.

yeah ive tried that - it used to stall as soon as you put anything over the top of the snorkel - now if i do the same thing there is almost no difference in the running of the engine

Check the cap on the air filter box... is the filter the right size?

take the filter out and put a piece of wood (rather than a rag) over the hole... this will 1/2 split the intake system... if it stalls down when you do that, then the problem is further out, if not check the hoses between the air filter housing and the inlet manifold havent split inside one of the serrations as toyota rubber hoses have a habit of doing.

i definitley dont think its the filter box - correct filter and this is fully sealed with silicone. Guess ill triple check the hoses and reseal all connections and have to let you know if that sorts the problem. I just cant see anywere it could possibly leak - one of those real annoying problems
