My tail and park lights lights stopped working and I couldn't find anything to stop them working so I connected them up to my number plate light, the problem now is unless its still connected to teh old circuit teh break lights dont work and if i di that the dash ights come on whenever I break. What I want to know is where s teh switch that turns the break lights on?

Are you sure you dont have a dodgy earth on the tail lights, for all of them to stop it sounds like a earth problem.

Or the tail-light fuse in the kick-panel fusebox...

On L/C there is a plug in the tail-light loom, just inside of the rear guard panel, where the tail-light loom plugs into the main loom, sometimes they need to be checked for good contact. May be the same on other Toyota's

if your dash lights come on when you brake it means the circuit is good all the way from the dash to the back, but put it back the way it was and get a meter then check from the fuse to chassis with brake pedal depressed, if you get voltage then go pull the interior panels off in the back and check for voltage at the plugs, if theres nothing follow the cables back and youll find your fault.

But I rekon youve got nothing at the fuse.
