repaired the recently discovered rusty holes in the 60 series and painted the rear cargo area and under the back seat with rust preventative body deadener stuff.
Looked at the sunny day and watched the manakau winch challenge vids and regretted selling the 40 series, on top of chatting with a guy yesterday about 40s and how awesome they were off road.....
Soooooooo, anyone know much about this? Saw it at Hanmer and it went ok and looked tidy enough, has been on TM for a while and price has dropped a bit, no longer on the 35s though:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=325817900Glad you got the chassis repaired on the 40 Jase.

I would of told you the 40s are awesome off road too
That green truck is Blairs one i was chatting to him about it last week.
Its not a bad truck cost him 4k to setup with the 35s and power steer, disc brakes, suspension, locker etc etc,
Would pay to have a good look at the motor it seemed very smoky, also find out what sort of locker is in the back.

Partner suggested we buy fish and chips and head for Paraparaumu Beach with the dogs..
Lucky for one toyota 4runner and boat.
He backed his 4x4 to far back into the sea with an incoming tide and took too long to hookup the boat and trailer. When he tried to drive out, he dug himself in, and then kept digging himself in before stopping. By now the truck was a gonna... Lucky I had 40m of rope and was able to pull him out. It was a little waterlogged and the engine didn't want to go, but at least it's not lost... He didn't catch anything that day but I did...

.
I left with a promise of a bottle of Baileys to be deliverd to my place. BUT my experience is that I'll never see them again... Till next time...

spent yesterday carrying on my crusade to rid the Whale of vibrations and clunking, dropped the driveshaft to check the uni's and lo and behold the rear uni is binding up .. feels like it dropped a needle roller, wonder if thats the cause of the "grumble" i can hear on accelleration thats been getting slowly worse over the last couple of weeks, course there are none in Whangarei so wll have to oder one in.
todays job is wiring some spotlights in the zook, next weekend we have a 2 day run planned, including a bit of night driving sat night, dont fancy taping two dophin lamps to the front as sugested by a fellow club member

so im stealing the spots off the Bighorn instead

Well whats a weekend it has been. I went to fit the gearbox to the bighorn found the replacement gearbox has 2 cracks in the bellhousing so notified Strong for Isuzu (Parts connection) and they said it will be fine and if anything goes wrong that they will pay for it. Couldnt get the box in so gave up at lunch time. Sunday finally got the box in and went to take the drain bungs out (box and transfer) and they wouldnt come out then they just fell out along with all the thread and half a cup of water out of the transfer and dirty oil out of the box itself (F&*K sake). Finished installing the rest and will be on contact with them on Tuesday to get that sorted as im not footing the bill for the extra work as Im not a happy camper was hoping to get some Kms to wear in the new clutch.
So Far "STRONG FOR ISUZU" is STRONG ON CRAP PARTS FOR TOP DOLLAR as the box cost me $700 and this was surpose to be the good replacement one for the previous one they sent me.

Had a good day at full throttle on Sunday. well half a good day, once the Suzuki decided it would go again, just not on hills. Wasnt fueling right, so after a few chats with people I need to replace fuel filter and get a carb rebuild kit as mine has done 290000km and as far as I am aware no rebuild or anything, but first I will check the float chamber and make sure its clean as I do drive on gravel roads a fair bit.
once it did go it was great fun.

Nice looking Hilux

rest of my weekend has been easy going as I caught a cold from somewhere.
