Rev gauge install in a diesel Surf..

Post by hiluxsurfer »

My rev counter in my surf has given up and no longer works and I want to know how do I go about installing an aftermarket Speco one. The engine is the 2.8. Am I able to use the existing wiring behind the original cluster and extend it for the new gauge? The truck is a 1985 Surf, or do I have to feed it off somewhere like the alternator?

Any help would be hugely appreciated. Dan.

I think you'll need a special diesel tach that is designed to take a signal from the alternator.
