Did you buy Richards grey Big Horn? Id put an internal cage in it.
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Re: internal or external cage?
If it’s a full body then I would go internal. If you go external you need the cross bracing, the only way you could cross brace it is drilling through the body for the bars, you need the cross brace for the strength. The cage is there to save you, not to save the vehicle.

Re: internal or external cage?
Yea go internal, It can be made much stronger and you dont have to worry about cutting up your bodywork.

Re: internal or external cage?
yeah its probly best to go internal who would do it for cheap? you know anyone?
Re: internal or external cage?
If its been ute chopped, is it road legal? With the ute chop itd be easy enough to cross brace the main hoop behind the cab. you can run a brace across the bottom an top of the screen just like you would with an internal an you can triangulate the cage across the roof just like you would with an internal cage. Comes down to what you want to use it for, how much you want to pay (which is f#ck all by the sounds) an who will be willing to build it for you.

Re: internal or external cage?
combination of the two, internal for the big/high speed rolls that will save ya and an external/bloody good bar work to protect the rig when on the trail.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!

^^ Pretty good advice but must add one thing.
The biggest problem with external cages is the the mounting of the 'A' pillar hoop. This needs to be mounted to either a very strong rock slider or braced very well onto the floor or chassis. Too many that I've seen have all sorts of bends and are good for sweet FA. So as long as you sort this out then a ute can quite easily have a safe external cage. It won't be as strong as an internal but will still be pretty good.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
Re: internal or external cage?
Main hoop also has to be quite near to the back of the front row of seats, meaning that in cab chop configuration it leaves bugger all (virtually no) space behind the seats for storage if the hoop is outside the cab.
