Where to mount rear recovery hooks?

Got 2 rear recovery hooks. not sure where to put them. Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thinking of putting them at either point 1 or 2. (see below) both sides are identical.

I would go with spot 1, its closer to the chassis rail. Can you mount it to the rail?

yeah 1 is 'the t junction' between the chassis rail and the final cross member. wasnt sure if drilling there would weaken it?

As long as the hole you drill is going to have a bolt through it and done up tight, I don't think you have to worry about weakening the "t junction"

chassis rail has the suspension mounts so will move the hooks left of point 1 in original picture.
itll leave them closer to the middle and each other then i wouldve liked but looking at it, theyll be stronger there for sure.
