.. what that clunky, grindy noise is that seems to live in the suspension of quite a few surfs is.
you know, the one that embarasses your girl friend when you do a slow, tight u-turn in the middle of town
not mportant, just wondering

Steering stops, they contact on full lock and rub with suspension travel
Some models have a plastic cap which reduces friction/noise but wears away

the stop are never even one side will make noise other wont .
when the plastic or rubber cap wears away you end up with a metal on metal contact that makes a hole . so either spot a weld or 2 in the wear area or a big glob of grease works for about 3 months of road work or 1day up the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
