Newbie

Post by davlitt »

Hi there, I have just bought an old 87 Safari Granroad. I am keen to get into a bit of 4wding, nothing too extreme, on a minimal budget. Just wondering what the most important things are that I should look at sorting first. The truck has a winch but the cable is worn out, so looking at replacing the cable. Also has a set of 31" Kuhmo Venturers, and am looking at changing to 32" Maxxis Buckshot's as these are about all I get get within budget. Plus some recovery gear, snatch rope etc.

Any suggestions/ideas and advice on what will make the biggest difference etc. Cheers. :|

dude these things go really well offroad 33s slip under no problem almost same price as 32s go to cookes for winch cable and go 30metres 10mm not 12mm rolls on better check your front spring mounts as these tend to tear off just apply more weld my avatar is a mk lwb saffy with short cab on it slightly modded

most important SNORKEL as these thing chug away under water quite happily pm me if you need any info....

is it a road truck or something a bit rougher?? pics?

I'd learn to drive it how it is and see how it handles and what its limits are. Then mod it slowly as budget allows so you can see the gains.

Do get a snatch strap/rope, tow rope/strap, spade, first aid kit Would be my recommendations.

You will need recovery points if your out with others or a club run too.
