In process of rebuilding the front end of our safari and have discovered that the radiator is stuffed (lucky I gave it an xmas rebuild otherwise wouldn't have noticed)

Not only are a heap of the fins missing but also a nice collection of coolant on the bottom corner so time for a new one or recore.

Given the radiator shops are closed for xmas I wonder if anyone out there has a decent one lying around??

Truck doesn't have its next 4wd trip until the 15th so time to recore once everyone opens or buy a new one depending on price.

In relation to new ones are the ones on trademe any good or better to recore what I have?? (haven't priced recore yet but assume similar price)

Used the second guy, good service and good price. Mine arrived two days later and had been damaged by the courier. New one arrived the next day. That was 4 years ago and it still looks like new.

Cheers for that. Will price up a recore on Wednesday (assuming they are open) and compare prices.

In relation to the radiator we are looking at shifting it further back to give more room for the winch. Keeping the standard engine driven fan how far can we shift it back?? Perhaps a better question is how much of a gap is required between the back of the radiator and the fan blades??

yeah me too have the silverdale radiators one in my truck, 3 years on and going well, they say being aluminium it can cool up to 10-15% better than the standard. i know i give my td42 death and it hasnt missed a beat.

Any good tips on flushing the crap out of the engine?? Tried reverse flushing (via removing thermostate and jaming the hose in) but input and output come out the similar place so not 100% confident I have flushed it completely or if water just taking a bypass.
