hilux dash lights some on when going through water

As the title states both my hilux and my mates have the dash warning lights come in during deep water crossings and then they go of straight away again when you get out of the water. Is this normal? My guess would be its something to do with the alternator but is it something we should worry about?

Probably the alt filling up with water an not charging.. not an ideal thing to keep happening :wink:

my hilux done the same at the pucker park mud plug last year and it was the alternator

oil light, engine light and battery light. Water would only be splashing the alt rather than it being submerged...

u have a viscos fan still or electric? Mine always did it with the viscos fan as it was spraying water straight through the alternator, changed to an electric fan that i could turn off in water and it was fine. Only did it when it was fully submerged and with a quick rev it dried out and lights went straight out.

my cruiser has the battery light come on in deep water aswell,itl be the alternator having a drink
