Failed WOF on rust

Post by nstacey »

Took the hilux for a Warrant and failed on these bits, The VTNZ guy prepared a structural sheet that needs stamping by a panel beater once its fixed... Gonna try and get some quotes next week but anyone want to recommend a panel beater in Wellington and what sorta ball park figure am I looking at?

Screw VTNZ and their gay arse sheets, it's a load of crap they tried to make me get my rust around my windscreen (similar to yours) repaired by some accredited company, I fixed it myself and took it else where, the guys at VTNZ are a bunch of tools.

But if you aren't in the position to do the repairs yourself I would throughly recommend Just Rust in Tawa, PJ and his guys are a good bunch. Tell him Glen the bike racing guy sent you and he should look after you. Oh and if you don't require a showroom quality job (it is a 4x4 after all) then I would be surprised of it would be more than 150ish but that is a really rough guess!

Its just an arse covering document, it means that it can be repaired, bogged and painted as required without having to leave metal exposed and someone else has taken responsibility for it, it used to be that whoever repaired it had leave the metal patch showing until after the warrant guy had rechecked it because he was putting his name on the piece of paper.
If you do it yourself just take photo's,

X2 VTNZ are just a bunch of tools

Just wondering how you figured this, im there twice or more daily, and have absolutely no issues with them.

+1 for PJ at Just Rust, good guy.

To be fair I have only ever dealt with them 3 times, but 3 times they were a pain in the arse.

First time with the road bike, took it in failed on rear tyre. No worries got new rear tyre and went back for a re-check. Now for some reason the exhaust is to loud (didn't change from the first visit and same guy) and exhaust has to be replace (standard exhaust) The dumbarse couldn't understand that even if I put a new one on it would still be just as loud! Went else where, no problems.

Second time was with my car and the same thing with the rust around the screen. Fixed it and took it back ignoring their gay sheet. Showed the guys pics of the repair job (usually what most wof guys like to see) but no, it didn't have the stamp on the piece of paper. Oh I have a welding ticket to which I showed him but that was irrelevant according to him

Third time lucky, took girl friends car in for wof, failed on a balljoint. No problem went to check it out and replace it, when inspecting it, I notice the ball joint is fine, is a wheel bearing. fix it up take it back and tell the guy it was a wheel bearing it's been repaired and the movement he could see before was now gone. He didn't even put it up on the jack to check, he just looked under and said the balljoint hadn't been replace and it had to be replaced. I reasoned with the man for a bit before deciding I've had enough and politely told him to go stuff a spade handle wrapped with barbed wire up his arse then left.

These were from 3 different VTNZ stations, so naturally I wont be going back!

Slightly getting off topic here :)

I still use VTNZ as they are local , stupid I know but the bad things I have had are , not counting not listening every wof check when I said the rangie was constant 4wd so to swap the brake tester over only to see it get spat off the brake machine .

Standard legacy , 1800 I might add . Nitwit wanted to see the cert for the engine change as they never came out with a flat 4 engine

Failed my suzuki on sway bar bushed and no rear seat belts ( there was no rear seats ) . Wof guy said just take sway bar off , ok :? Then after explaining that the belt stalks bolt to the rear seats ( which I did not have ) he said I would just have to bolt the stalks through the floor . He did not want the seats in just the belt . Would both of those actions not require a cert , if you were being picky .
