ok question, i have a v6 petrol terrano and the question is whats the deal with river crossings??? i had a hilux with a snorkel and i could get water over bonnet no problem, however i worry about putting the nissan in even half way up the wheel, how far is too far, do alternators handle getting submerged ect?? any help would be great,
thanks nick,
under water???
Re: under water???
Alternators will survive a few dunkings, but its the mud that kills them, from memory your air intake is in the guard between the outer and the liner and draws air from behind the headlight.
With those v6's one sniff of water and you'll bend a rod or 3, a gulp will destroy it!!!!
Reroute the air inlet or snorkel it, better to be sure than sorry

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

ok thanks will silicone on cap ect, is there something i should spray on relays ect to help keep them in working order,? and does anyone know of any trips coming up lower north island area?? nothing too major
Re: under water???
Relays etc will be fine. I've been competing with a Nissan V8 and that has far more complex electric than the VG30 and that has never missed beat when fully submerged to bonnet level. Now oil starvation is a different story!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
