Im looking at getting a 91 surf with 270ks on it, It has a lift kit with 33x12.5, No flares and no cert, does it need a cert for lift kit? and it would need flares for tyres wouldnt it??
Also how much is an exhaust ussually for one of these? I heard it helps prevent the head cracking?
Toyota surf questions
Re: Toyota surf questions
is the lift done through the suspension or body lift?
I found out that generally suspension is fine and body lift requires a cert....i guess it comes down to where you take it

Re: Toyota surf questions
im 90% sure its suspension, I know that some garages will let you away but what if i get rolled will they green sticker me for it?
Also what sort of milage can i expect from a tank? I've been reading up and people with 33's are only getting 350km's outta 55L's!

they will just tell you to get a cert before they give you a wof. Also no insurance if they dont know about the mods too
May pay to also get flares too as im sure those tyres will be outside the non-flared guards
Not too sure on exhaust, would like to know as well

The tyres are well beyond the non flared gaurds... is that illegal? Im starting to be put off by everyone saying how bad the 2lte engines are, Head cracking wise, and fuel consumption wise..... i'd really prefer to get a td27t terrano... just harder to find...

yes
Re: Toyota surf questions
will need flares for wof - but easy to make yourself
+50mm sus lift shouldn't need a cert
exhaust for mine was $600-700 from memory
my fuel consumption was crap (auto)
oh and the head cracked and at a later date ran a bottom end bearing...
terrano engines beats the 2lte hands down, any day.
good luck
Tom.

Pitstop done a 2,1/4 inch exhaust from the cat back(and cut the cat out) for $550.
