Hi Guys
I was wondering if someone could help me with some info?
I have a 80 series Landcruiser HD1-T and it has l sloppy and clunky front drive shaft. I assume that there is something wrong in the transfer case.
Can someone shed some light on what is wrong, what the process is to repair and how much if will hurt  .
I have also been thinking about fitting an intercooler. I think this will help with heavy towing? What are your thoughts?

Cheers

80 are notoriously sloppy in the drivetrain to begin with

but I'm puzzled coz you say the front driveshaft is sloppy but are blaming the transfer case

does this mean you have had the front driveshaft checked out, coz they do need repair from time to time.

I've replaced both of my driveshafts universals with new bits as they were sloppy

As skid said are you sure its not the d/shaft u/j's? If not then the nut that holds the flange on could be loose, but its more likely the bearing in the transfer case. How many ks has it done?

The universal is fine the slop is in the yoke that slides into the transfer box aswell. There is no bearing noise just circular play. Realy noticable when slowing then speeding up at low speed.Done 200ooo km
