Gday iv got a mwb 70 series. Im thinking bout giving it a 2inch lift have sourced some frount springs for the job. Want to do it so i can fit the 33s on it with some good flex & better approach & departure angles.
Few questions

Would extended shackles on the back be alright?
Is anti inversion a must?
Would it make it alot more unstable?
Lastly would the shocks that are currently on there be alright?

Anti-inversion shackles on the front are a must. Extended (flat) shackles on the rear won't hurt much, and are a cheap lift, but you need double the length of the lift. It will allow a fair bit of extra lateral movement at the rear which will be noticeable on the road more than off it. Drive it a bit (off-road) without shocks and twist it up, measure the distance between mounts at maximum compression / max extension, then get shocks to suit. Your existing ones may be OK. You will probably find it still compresses about the same, but sits higher at rest, and may not actually droop much further. Don't lift it any more than you need (and 33's shouldn't need much if any lift) since it will have a significant effect on stability. 2inches is quite a lot for 33's... Better (and cheaper) to cut bits of the guard away than to lift the truck too much imo, but others may disagree. A big gain in approach angle can be achieved by removing the stock front bumper back to the chassis rails...

Yep x2 you should fit 33's ok without a lift, if they dont fit your springs will be flogged out and sagged and overdue for replacement anyway, replace your springs and forget about longer shackles and you should be fine

I had a OME kit 2" lifted and worked a treat.. ran 33's and only at full compression and full lock did it rub and only a smidtion.. Anti inversion brackets are a must in front as I did that 3 x cause I didn't put them in..Wouldn't go much higher than 2"..

Heres my mwb not long after i got it Way before I started redesigning it) its on 33" wranglers with 15x8s, 1st pics is with flat farked std height springs



It rubbed like a bastard on the rear guards an cut the outer tread blocks quite badly. Front didnt rub too badly at all.

This is with a 2nd hand 2" ome spring lift, it actually lifted it 3.5" at the front an 4" compared to the old worn springs. When I fitted the springs i redrilled the spring perches an moved the diff forward 25mm



Personally I think 2" lift an 33s looks silly, its too high an makes the tyres look too small imho.
New std height springs would be better if you want to run 33s.

Or you could lift it an put 35s on it

I have 33s on mine and they're on 10 inch rims which stick out further and have a wider turning circle in the gaurds. I have only reset the springs and these fit fine without rubbing, only come close at full lock.

thanks heaps for the replys. seeing its my daily driver i think ill leave it get the 33s then decide if it does rub too much.
