well its been a year or 2 since I owned a truck after having 2 suzukis that caused me nothing but problems

I cut my losses an moved on an now have just brought myself a 2.3L TD 2 door 1985 generation 1 pajero. Its in well used condition but has a rebuilt engine & turbo (done 80kms since full rebuild, 3500 in receipts )
anyways went to greymouth to buy this black zook truck for 2000, it was very rough an there was no way I was gona pay that for it considering it didn't have a wof an wasn't gona get one easily... so after a disappointing 6hour trip we headed back home thinking what a waste of time until I stumbled across this truck on the side of the road
rego +wof SWB pajero in tidy well used condition for only 1500$, So we had a chat to owner(who had only just put it out on road 5mins ago) an I had the cash so I brought it right then on the spot, 20mins later I drove away

pretty stoked about the find really, it was pretty dam cheap to!
heres a pic from the waimac today where it performed very well an had no issues apart from abit of grunts an groaning

I've had 5 over the years... MAKE SURE you change the oil every 5000km.. it not an ask but a doit

.. or you will have another rebuild before too long.. Otherwise good score.. they are an awesome little offroader with a descent set of muddies on them and a lsd..cheers

thanks everyone its good to be back out there haha, can anyone recommend me a good track to learn on? ive been down to the mac 4x4 area but half the time its closed (like last sunday?!)
does anyone know why they close off the waimac gates some days an not others? and is there any way to find out when they will be open?
I changed the oil an filter first thing, it has some pretty bad leaks and im not 100% sure where from, one looks to be from the gbox but leaks around the driveshaft area an the other is from power steering which ive drained an put stop leaks in. This is a dumb question but did these trucks not come with a gbox dipstick? if yes then where the heck is it ?
Been trying to get a manual for it
Cheers Sam

should be a plug on the side of the box for oil level [guess] if not drain and refill correct amount

ok cheers for that will have a proper look tonight

also disregard the waimac question I have seen the post in the other section about access points. Its weird/pointless to lock that gate they have because you can simply get in on the other side anyway... weird

If you want ya 4wd to last avoid the Waimac ...the very fine silt there will get into your oil seals etc & fcuk them big time.
The Ashley has a good learners track. Its a littleover grown at present but in the next few weeks there is going to be a clean up there to trim it a bit so shineys can useit again without getting pinstriped.

ok thanks for the info, ive never been to the ashley before so will look into it..
anyone got one of those old blue shogun manuals

proving hard to find
I was also wondering on tyre information, im in the process of spending probably around 1200$ on a set of new mudziller style tyres... I dont really know much about 4x4 tyres or the prices of them. I was also wondering what is a safe tyre height to run on these old trucks? no bigger than 31's? I also noticed my front cvs are split >.< so will get that sorted before I go threw anymore mud

went out to the waimac in the weekend, had a great time(it was raining

) got REALLY stuck in the mud took about 30mins of digging to get me out hahaha all in the experience I guess
