Exhaust size

Post by SP450andLE »

Ok...

My Fiva is in need of a better exhaust soon. The current exhaust is about the same size as that of the standard Lada (really freakin' small).

I'm wanting something that is reasonably loud (just to draw attention to the fact that the engine isn't so standard :D ), but also something that won't cause me to lose too much torque.

Lincoln has an M&H Flowmaster-style muffler on his 'Zuk, and it makes it sounds quite nice and deep. I was thinking that I would have this toward the back of the exhaust system, which I will probably make pretty much straight-through.

So, what size do you recommend?
Bearing in mind the engine is a two-litre twin cam Fiat, with a compression ratio of 10.5:1 .

Chur.

Whatever you do don't make too loud. May sound cool taking off from the lights but if that's all you can hear you'll soon get very sick of it on a long drive.

I know that feeling. I have told him all that already, but he won't listen.

I suggested 2.25 - 2.5" exhaust for it. along with the muffler and maybe a coby or something if it is still too loud.

I'm not gunna get sick of it. I haven't got sick of my mini yet, even when I sit in top gear (4th) at 100 for a while.

Anyways, I'm not wanting to make it overly loud, just loud enough.

2.5 is to big, waste of money for no power gain, a 2" or 2.25 max. talk to the exhaust shop you want to use and they may let you try a few different mufflers.
