4d57 (same-ish as 4d56) question

Hi there. I have fully rebuilt a 4D57 from a hyundai H100. The motor is the same as the Mitsubishi 4D56 for all intents and purposes. I have put the motor back together and put it back in.

Now my problems arise. It starts and idles (barely) which is good. I havent times the diesel pump as im not sure how to do that. Is there a way to get a sweet spot without actually having to use extra tools? Also I cant fid where 1 wire on the pump goes. For the loom that goes to the pump. 1 plug connects to a connector on the pump. 1 plug goes to the temp sensor on the block. And there is a lone black wire with a loop connector. I cant for the life of me find anywhere it can go. It looks like its only short enough to connect to the pump somewhere. Im not sure if this is causing the problem but id like to discount it. The engine diagrams dont show where this goes. HELP :S

Could it be an earth wire? See where it will reach to.

UPDATE I have found where the wire went. It was just a earth that attaches to the head. The van doesnt start properly it just just splutters for a second or 2 now. Im sure I havent done anything wrong??? :S
