fuseable links

this is a weird one, i have a mitsi jeep with the old 4dr5 engine, had a avs imobiliser fitted to it before xmas and all good, I took one of the two batteries out, while doing so the metal strap touched each terminal, a quik spark ( I know who would bolt a strap beside each terminal almost touching) i re started it and all good, took battery out to run other truck all is good.
Until i put the new battery in today, the immobiliser widget isnt working but then none of the electrics is, all the glass fuses under the dash are ok, the guy who fitted the avs unit is flat out with quake stuff and cant get to sumner, he mentioned it could be the fuseable link, gone I followed his advice and checked the positive wire and followed it but for the life of me cant see a link anywhere, I know on some cars they are on the firewall but im going nuts..
any ideas for man in quake city..
