Toyota winch 24 volt

Having trouble with clutch pack locking mechanism. When winch is wound out the clutch pack unlocks itself and causes all sorts of trouble. toyota manual is very unhelpful with limited instruction i.e(roatate gear clockwise and lock)
Last attempt in vice with hammer and punch. Was definitely locked.

check with Mike Mud toy he had the same problem. Every time you pulled the winch out in free wheel the clutch pac retainer lock nut would come undone, jamming the lot.
