Hi, my ute failed its WOF on the lower ball joint. I have broken the taper on the joint now but there does not appear to be enough clearance to pull the ball joint out as the CV is in the way. Has anyone got any tricks to getting it out without pulling apart the whole drive assembly?? if I do have to remove the hub is there anything to look out for?
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: D21 Navara Lower ball Joint
You have to drop the free wheel hub off and undo the nut that holds the cv in. Undo the 4 bolts that hold the ball joint to the a arm and it will all move enough to come apart. You don't need to take the cv right out, just back a bit.
Buy resonable quality ones if you can. First set i did I got from Ripco and they lasted until the next WOF, second set cost about $20 more from BNT and never replaced them in the following 3 yrs I had the truck

Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Thanks for the reply. good to hear i dont have to pull the whole cv apart. bugger though because i bought repco ones yesterday. What is the story with BNT do they do public sales or do you need an account?
Re: D21 Navara Lower ball Joint
BNT sell to the public no worries. getting a account (cash or credit) helps with prices though. I have always found the ones up here good to deal with, but guess like anything it has more to do with the staff than the company name.
