shes a challenge to get into gear but once you do, and plant foot its quick for a 59 year old truck

thought they were no sycro first but in second and third
is it dana 44's front and rear?,t 19 box

Crazy though. It must be a very early 3b? it has MB recesses in the side (told they were used on the cj3b's until they had used up all of the left over mb pannels) but it also has the millitary handles and lamps.

Anyone know what this thing was made for? is it x army or has it been given that millitary look by a civilian?

From memory, isn't reverse where you expect 2nd to be?

it is ex RAAF, M606. the black out light has been added later however. It is a 4.6 Chev V8 (283ci). Feels like no syncro's in any gear as they may be buggered in 2nd and 3rd?!. And yes, reverse is in a somewhat unintuitive position.

Dunno if its just me but something ain't right about it.
It should if I remember right have a far different windscreen surround and a lower bonnet (probably changed to fit engine) Nose is def CJ as its got chrome lined lamps and the little lights aren't recessed.

Tool notches were an m38 body ID marker rather than CJ I think .

I don't remember if this model should have willys on the side of the bonnet or not too.

Other stuff I can't see in pics.

It looks like a bit of a bitsa but pretty tidy esp if the tub is an earlier model. Can buy full replacement tubs now though so it is getting harder and harder to tell.

283 should be fun in such a light vehicle.

Ha it does have that surround then. Musta got my models mixed. May be the A model I was thinking of

You should totally buy the tool brackets and fit the axe and shovel , wrap a big fat snatch rope around the front bumper and maybe stencil some ID onto the bonnet sides.

Swamped, the high and low hood tubs are very different at the cowl eg, one is taller than the other by 3 or 4 inches. This could not be an "earlier" tub as they were low hood.

If you want the low hood look but can only find cj3b tubs you can remove a section to turn it into a cj2a or mb look-alike.

this is a american 606.

my grandfather recalls using right hand drive ones in france supplied to the british before the US actually started fighting in europe.

I'm quite happy with my Ford GPW. Just need to make some shed space so it has a home when it comes into the country.

Its a rougher version of this with shittier paint and no tools


I've heard about these transition model cj's but thought they were kinda rare. A heap went to Korea.

I guessed from the spacers under the nose it may have been modded rather than stock. I think the bonnet is meant to have willys down it like that last pic.

willys have WILLYS stamped down the side.

mitsubishi have JEEP on the side.

Mahindra have nothing on the bonnet.

I'd say its been replaced at some stage.
