Replacing 2.6lt with a 3.8lt v6

The head on my mu has had enough now thinking of putting a holden vn 3.8v6 I picked up for $400 as head for my mu cost twice as much.
Any ideas if it would be a good combination with my running gear on my mu,it is a 89 2.6lt petrol Mu.Any tips or info would be great.

I am thinking about doing the same thing. Either that engine or a 4 litre toyota V8. interesting.

Use a VP or later 3.8 as the VN's had oddball crank designs in the autos... mate it to a Hilux 5-speed and t/c using the dellows kit and then use some adaptors to bolt the gearbox to the existing driveshafts (which will probably need slight length adjustments)...
...while you are there chop all the IFS out and fit a Hilux front axle

The best of the 3.8's were the ones which came out in the VS's, the Ecotec motor
