Hey guys, Thought id post this on here. For six months I work as Hunting guide on the King Ranch in Texas, And come across a few trucks that run Methanol injection in their diesels. And man was I impressed, So when I got back home to NZ this year I thought id install a kit on my 71 short wheel base Landcruiser Prado. Have it installed now, this kit runs a progressive controller, so as too settings one you set for low boost then one for high boost and the pump ramps up to suite. So with this kit you run a mix of 50% methanol and 50% water, or if you wont just cooling you run 100% water this will out cool any Intercooler made for your truck, at 100 km s Im running 250d at the EGT g, With methanol the performance is amazing, will be doin a few Dyno runs soon.

How fast do you go through a tank of water/meths.
And what did the kit cost??

its a mod thats been on the cards for a while.

how much water/meths it goes through depends a lot on the tuning of the setup and how much cooling you want. one of the problems with small diesels is they are almost always on boost so you can use water/meth almost all the time. just the long length of time can mean using large amounts eg anything from 20l-40l per 70l tank of diesel.
however if its tuned only to come on at max boost (or max EGT or max airflow) the usage is a whole lot less.

In my truck my tank is 20L I go through that in around 940 km, Mine is set to come in at 7 and go through to the max boost of 20, keeps the tems right down, and man it does a good job of cleaning all the carbon crap out the engine, its like a brand new engine inside

Well I didn't work out how to put the photos up on the forum, so I put them up on Our 4wds, and now have put a second nozzle in, pre turbo, which sprays into the turbo, which does a great job of cooling the turbo, makes the turbo act like a bigger one because the air is more dense

hmm, excellent that someone touched on this as ive got 60 litres of methanol to burn.

Mate go for it love the kit on my truck, Runs colder, Cleaner engine all the Carbon crap gone clean valves and manifold, and she huals ass
