So I have had my truck off the road for 2 weeks while I did a few little odd jobs and the water pump on it and I noticed after a week when I went to turn it around she wouldn't go.

When it cranks there seems to be little resistance and it doesn't throw the engine about like it usually would, for lack of a better description.

I cracked #1 injector and it sprayed once after 2 seconds or so of turning the key.

If I put it and gear and crank she moves forwards.

It is parked on a slight incline with the nose pointed up hill so after a bit of digging I though it may be a buggered pump but the fuel squirting out the injector probably puts that to bed.

I have since changed the fuel filter and it was full also.

Any suggestions on what to do next? It was starting first pop before I parked it up; and where do you bleed from on an inline fuel pump on these? The bolt holding the return? hose on the side of it towards the front?

Glowplugs, may need more than one glow... just a thought.. as for the other part (fuel pump) will check out Blackdeath on Monday and let you know where he has his.

Murphys law I just got the fecking thing going. I have been messing with it for most of the day and all it needed was to be cranked for about 60 seconds

It sat for 3 months when I went overseas last year and started first pop after that though so there must be something that needs attention soon.

Thinking about glow plugs or less resistance lends itself to low compression.

Good to confirm starting cold or hot ok.

Yeah I need a new battery for the winch anyway but it was jumped so the strain was shared. It highlighted a bad earth on the manifold as well so I will get that sorted soon.

Have a new set of plugs waiting to go in once I get my spare injectors reconditioned but it always starts first pop within 2 seconds of flicking the key to on, just like the old Safari.

Starts fine cold and hot. It is back to normal really, no loss of the small amount of power it has always had , engine brakes all good (sign of good compression?), so it is still a bit of a mystery.

Going to get a comp test done before I turbo it to make sure I'm starting with a solid base.

Thinking there may be a small air leak in the fuel lines somewhere. Its not leaking Diesel so could be hard to find.
