Hey guys, new here. I have a problem with my new hilux.. well. The 4wd doesn't engage, i've checked the plugs to the front diff etc. Not sure what else it could be. is there anything to definatly check to make sure its nothing serious? Thanks

Are you hearing a click sound near the lever when you press the 4WD button? From memory there are a couple of relays in the console that close in and out as you activate 4WD. That might indicate a power failure (fuse?).
I don't recall where the two vacuum solenoids are in the engine bay, but trace them back via the vacuum hoses and make sure you have no splits or cracks in the hose too.

nah no clicking aye, throw it into neutral then into low 4wd, button on too, and no noises at all, would that mean its a power fault somewhere ?

sounds that way... check the fuses, then start pulling the console apart and check the wiring is still intact...
Failing that you probably need a multimeter and some knowledge...

Check the clip on the transfer case (about halfway underneath, you can access if you slide under). Mine has a busted clip on the plug and popped off causing this exact problem.

yeah i took off the centre console and ran through the wires and all from the high/low gear stick and all of them looked/seemed fine... is there anything known to blow or break on these?

is this the plug that goes into the back of the front diff? if so, yeah i took it out and cleaned it out replugged, did the same for the plug at the front of the diff.. still no changes.. seems to be a tough fix..
