Viscous fan on my kzj 78 is well stuffed, running 10 -15 deg hotter and fan spins freely when hot. was looking at refilling it, as new one $260+. couldn't find any how to threads. Are there any tips or tricks to it? do I need to clean it out? or is it just fill it up and off you go?
any help would be great
thanks
Mike

Hey man.

Search the patrol4x4.com site. I remember reading a 'how to' on refilling the hub with oil there.
Don't think they are designed for it but it can be done. Whether its worth the effort vs a second hand one is probably debatable though haha.

The fans are adjustable internally, dO a bit of googling and you should find heaps of info....basically. You Open the fan up, drain it for a day or so. Toyota recommend about 40ml of fluid but 50ml is more like it. They are set to kick in at something stupid like 95degree air temperature for good fuel economy and quiet running,I reset mine to about 80degrees and even under the hardest loads on hills temperature gauge doesn't budge! Google search Toyota blue fan adjustment? Maybe someone else knows of a link? But the info is definately out there!

Here is the BNT stock code for the fluid....might pay to ring before going as not all branches stock it .
