Greasable Shackles & New Suspension!

Post by timmay556 »

Has anyone bought the shackels for a Leaf Spring hilux from 4wdstuff? I've e-mailed them twice with regards to their hilux cross member but haven't heard any responce. Is there service any good?
Or should I look else where to get the shackels, they seem to be the best priced (note I'm just after the standard replacement shackels)

I dont think 4wdstuff has been trading for the past couple of years, you might have to try the next best priced shackels

As above 4wdstuff is no longer trading. The owner is a member on here who pops up from time to time and may be able to source your some parts if it is worth his time and effort but it is no longer a business as the owner is chasing other goals so don't expect a quick reply.

Other then 4wdbits is there a decent online place to get parts? I'm going to order my shocks through but I would like to look around.
I've tried calling G Guys in welly twice and left my name and number but the guy that anwsers the phone never seems to get back to me or pass on the message.

Do you mean other than 4wdstuff? or don't you want to use 4wdbits? To be clear 4wdstuff is shut down but 4wdbits is trading and great to deal with.

Yeah dans a good dude to deal with. Klem down taupo had some suspension stuff when i was there too so could try him. I think its performance mechanical or similar. Was all RAW gear I saw him fitting. You could make some too, or Klem could.

Bought the leaf springs off Line Side as their service was absolute tops! And the rest was purchased from www.4wdbits.co.nz as he gave great info and service - and price

Gear hasn't arrived yet but I have tried all the nuts to makes sure I can either get them off or if I need another bit of kit (good thing I did as I need a deep 19MM socket and a slightly bigger power bar)

When it comes to removing the front suspension I tried taking the top nut off of the top of the shock and the whole thing just rotates around?? Do I need to get a mate to hold on to the shock while I try and take the top off?

There should be 2 flats above the nut, i usually just put a pair of vice grips on it and undo the nut, then remove the vice grips and hold the shock.

Well the new front flex's real nice (for a standard height lux)!! I'm really happy and my god does it drive nice on the road!

Now  That rear don't flex too well - In there at the moment are Gabriel GSHOCK shocks or something would I see more travel by fitting some EFS Long travel shocks in the rear as well?

Or could I just remove the rear spring clamps - not the ubolt with a top to it but the smaller ones?

So even after the new springs are in (yes they are installed on correct sides) the hilux has a lean to it. Will fitting a new torque arm fix this or am I missing something else?

Mine still does after about 2.5 years on the EFS springs. (i've probably done less than 5000kms on them) After you jack it up it'll sit on a lean for a bit, then settle after going over a few bumps, I watched this video and thought it may work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJHfsfPzlgo
Have been meaning to ask on here.
I am still running the stock torque arm. Can anyone confirm an adjustable one will fix it and would it improve ride quality if I'm getting the above symptoms? I see they're $105 at 4wdbits.
