Defender rear step

wanting to make a fold out step for the side of hilux, mounted of chassis. simply put the wife needs a ladder. any ideas on a design. thinking something that folds against spring presure then locks into place as spring centre pivot point flips past centre and locks it down. then pull it up past the spring centre pivot point and the spring holds it up out the way. bit like a kick stand on a motor bike. think it needs to be a bit more complicated than that tho to get it out of the way so it dosnt get ripped off (hardcore truck). dosnt matter how hard to make it is I can deal with that just need a design idea or 2 to get the brain working.

any body familiar with the defender step as on trademe above. does it do what I want???

I used to have an old seatbelt bolted to a seat mount bolt and put a stirrup on the end at the right height, just pulled it into truck before you shut the door. Worked gerat for the kids to get in
