Hey i have just purchased a 1993 isuzu mu 2.8 turbo diesel.
The engine and gearbox have been replaced with a later model (not sure of exactly which year), 3.1 tdi engine and 5spd manual box out of a bighorn..
the problem i have now is that the speedo cable is not compatible with the gear box..

obviously i have thought of just getting a bighorn cable but will this plug into the back of my dash?

Would an auto electrician be able to sort out this problem?
any help would be much appreciated , Cheers :o

Hi joshdh,

Only thing I can think off is you need to get a Big Horn speedo and put it in, I would write what is on the Mu speedo and wind it to the correct settings.

Iam not to sure if this is a way of doing this.

I dont think an auto electrician would know what to do.

Iam sure someone will comment on this so dont take my word for it.

Cheers

in what way is the speedo not compatible mate? it is to short? wrong fitting?

have you just bought it? have you had a look underneath to see if its all plugged in? pick a part for the win, go pull out a mechanical sender uni

The gearbox in my 3.1 bighorn runs an electronic sender instead of a cable.

The later mu's had the 3.1 so you should be able to work out something compatible.

Matt.

hey thanks for the help guys.
The speedo cable is too short and the cable is not compatible with the plug to the gear box..

As far as i know that is the only problem..
