1kzkzn130 surf build up
This build up may take some time but thought I would share with all out there!
Started with purchase of the beast a year and a half ago with a safari snorkel 2inch body and heavy duty springs,
The origin plan was beam axle and 4 inch lift and 33s,
I took it off the road after 6 months when I blew up the ifs diff,
I then striped the rear brakes down and got new pads drums and pistons, also fitted 80 series springs to the rear for a 4inch lift
Then purchased a whole prado off trademe for cheap with a mate, the truck was sent into up grades in chch to get the transformation done.
Uniweld in chch (top Guys) did a full 3 inch from dump pipe back(still want to do dump pipe) with no muffler(noisey as hell but i love it sounds like a kenworth! haha)
A week after getting it back I cracked a head on it so it came off the road for another 3 months as i did the head on it and got a new radiator.
Plan now is a new set of 35s, any help with wat brand to get would be great, i do love kl71s)
fit the prado intercooler i have
After market temp and boost gauge
Get ecu played with so i can up boost
and then some bar work and tow hooks!
Also in progress of buying winch
this may take some time as like all things it cost money!
And can someone tell me how to add photos? cheers

sounds like a good truck
Photos are easy, kinda.
you need to upload them to Photobucket or some such site, then resize them to 640x480 then copy the img tag into a post here and thats it.
cheers

Re: 1kzkzn130 surf build up
I know what you mean.
So you need to upload photos to photobucket.com.
once in there you can resize them by editing them. resize them to 640x480 and save that picture.
From there you need to copy the IMG tag, this comes up when you hover over the picture and clicking it will automatically copy it for you.
next you need to paste that into the body of a message, like when you are writing a post.
and that should work.

Re: 1kzkzn130 surf build up
Hey mate. I just tried your photos but they are too big. just view them, then click on them and go to the resize tab and select 640x480. then do the IMG tag. Its easy to use once you know.
I am not all that good either with technology. Nice looking surf man. You may have said but where are you in this fine country of ours?

Re: 1kzkzn130 surf build up
Im in north canterbury,
The diff was out of a lwb lj78 prado that a mate and I invested in for cheap as he needed a motor for his surf project,
Ild love to get more photo but my camera wont charge so once ive got a new charger and figure out how to load them up il do it,
The front has 3inch dobi spring and rancho 9000 and castor corection bushes,
The rear is dobi hd 80series springs and raw shocks.
Is a stock 1kz, has head replace as it cracked a week after getting sas done,
Went for cert last week and failed on brake fade, so trying to sort that out or maybe go to rear disc.
Also just brought temp gauge, boost off trademe, bit of a steel http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =367912291
Also have a prado top mount, which cert guy recomended i get go before I go for recheck.
The last photo is full flex rear gaurds with 35s! Mr toyota did do something right with surfs

Brake fade = fit higher performance brake pads as quick fix

Re: 1kzkzn130 surf build up
Yer I made sure they were when i fitted them with the intensions they would be having to stop 35, went to cert on 33s and still got it, ive cleaned them up now and working a bit better, but disc rear would probably be a good investment

Re: 1kzkzn130 surf build up
This is a bit more than "setle down over time height" thats why i wana correct it, allreday had it loaded and its still a inch lower at front, two inchs when unloaded, the new rear springs are progressive rate as well

Thanks mate, Bar hopefully after winter and tow bar/ rear bar in next week or two. Sliders are way down the list at this stage, never smashed them in the past so dont plain on it in near future.

I made the sliders on mine quite wide so they stick just out past the edge of the flares , they protect the doors & are also steps ...work great.

Interesting conversion .
Couple of questions.
Obviously your using drop radius arms to keep the mounting points up high. What brand are they? Do they hit the chassis on full compression .
Secondly , is it just the photo or is the front pinion angle funky. Any drive line vibes in 4wd? or bump steer?

it has factory prado arms and castor corection bushes, it is on a bit of an angle.
Drives awesome with 35s, handles like ifs, 33 its like shit major bump steering

Hey hows it going? I am currently looking at SASing my surf. I have got a few quotes on the job and am looking at my options. Did you get your hubs spaced out to keep the same width as the rear axle?

Hey mate. where in country are you? for In chch there is two guys that will do it, 4wd upgrades and 4wd accerioes, they both about the same price and both do a good job.
Your be looking at 3k easy incl gst for the full welded in set up but more if you are not supplying the diff.
I have used the www.snr4x4.co.nz ifs spacer kit. Works awesome matches wheel tracks and lets you run manual hubs.
