Navara YD25 engine options???!

Iv got a navara running the YD25, 2.5litre turbo intercooled diesel and its chucked its conrod through the block (aperantley quite common problem) so no choice no fixing this engine need to get a new 1.

Cant find any YD25 engines for it at all so went to the wreckers and they said it was a hard engine to get ahold of also ( because of there common problem) they put it out over the computer and came back with to options

A complete engine for $6,500

Or a bare block for $3,000

And no way in hell im paying that sort of money just for an engine.

So was hoping you guys would know of an easy engine conversion for the YD25 maybe the KD30? or QD32?
Or if any of you know of a YD25 around???? !!!

my foreman and i looked at doing one because theres a few floating around on trademe cheap with crook engines, no cheap way bout the YD25, Nissan were doing a trade special on the ZD30 but we didnt go down this track as we didnt want it costing more than buying a new truck, honestly put the VH45 or the likes in it

I had an 04" D22 with the ZD30 in it, had High Ks and looked into what another engine was worth, http://www.autodismantlers.co.nz/about.html?company_id=9 these fellas had 2nd hand ZD30s for around 3g which is resonable. Another option would be the VQ35 engine, used in all sorts of models and aparently bulletproof.

Spot on there except the QD32 bit, know of quite a few that have blown themselves to bits.Factory turbo jobbies.

thats the first NZ D22 YD25 i've heard blow. most have been in europe and all 4x4 not the 2wd model. be very interested to hear if the con rod problem exists here to.

QD32 or TD27 are bullet proof engines (tho you can blow anything if not maintained). will bolt straight in, just not sure on gearbox (especially as your 2wd) and what bell housing you need.
the other issue is dash, probably need the dash out of the earlier navara so expect some wiring hassles.

ZD30 is the easiest, just engine and ECU swap. wiring should be the same.

thee other option is to fit the D40 YD25 bottom end. there are some differences and i think the sump is one of them. tho it may fit ok in a 2wd, would have to check on that. however they would be hard to find.

Yes but my thought is whos going to want to spend 16k on a ute that has a dirty old mis match TD27 in it.

Im thinking the ZD30 could be a good option depending on whats involved.

just having a quick look through the manuals.
the 2wd YD and 4x4 ZD use same gearbox. you will need to use ZD bellhousing. hopefully input shafts are the same.

some wiring difference, crank sensor is at the flywheel on the YD but on the front pulley for the ZD. a little bit of difference in starter motor location.
control wiring should be the same as they run the same injection pump.
