DSR has a kit for the TD42 inlc turbo, exhaust manifold etc. If you search the forums you will probably find what you need too.

Best off the shelf turbo setup would probably be an AXT. Near on 4k to your door. Every nut and bolt comes included.

At the risk of sounding rude, Money makes things faster hahaha. What sort of budget are you looking at? and define haul? Tow truck? Road truck? Race truck? in my opinion they are different (and yes I do realize my opinion aint worth jack). Sorry to be nosey but it is a hot topic with much debate around my shed at the moment.

So you have an unlimited budget do you?

Let's start with a custum turbo, tuned length turbo manifold, big intercooler and a hybrid fuel pump. (and an inline electric fuel pump)
That has just cost you at least $8k and it will now blow the clutch or auto up so time to fix these.
If manual you'll need a new ultra HD clutch and if auto it needs to be rebuilt with VH45 parts and an upgraded valve body.
So you are now up around $10k (manual) to $12k (auto) and that assumes you can get mates rates for most things.
Also you should get your inlet manifold modified to ensure even cyclinder temps as factory inlet doesn't work great with lots of boost. eg over 20psi.

Th above will give you a very serious TD42 that should put a lot of V8 Safari's to shame!

i have an axt turbo kit on my safari with the fuel cranked up and it kills a lot of wild life but at 20lb it hauls arse !!!! i run it at 7 for most of the time as to higher boost the egt;s go through the roof , im sure a dsr kit would do the same job you will deffinatly need a heavy duty clutch though my std one didnt last long lol

Are you running a cooling system on it?
The AXT barrel intercooler sounds pretty savage. Could probably put something similar together yourself with a bit of hunting.

did have i big front mount but it just filled up with mud and the motor would start to run hot so i just run the axt cross over pipe again , will make my own water methanol set up if i want to up the boost but the way it gets beaten i would say it would spit a rod out the side at 20 pound ,
Water methanol is good shit , works real well on rotaries my friend recently put it on his 13bt that has a 6/71 blower and his air inlet temp went from 100 deg c down to 55
the best thing being it doesnt require air flow like an intercooler and doesnt take up tonnes of room in the engine bay like water to air

There are people out there running a fair bit more than 20 reliably. A bit above my skill level and I'm sure there is more to it than just bolting a couple of things on but I don't think the cost is all that high for the power you can get.

Hard part is finding someone in the know who wants to share

If your gunna run high boost you really need to be using some sort of cooler as the intake temps will be sky high. I have found a good sized top mount with a fan and a grunty water spary kit(to wash mud out of fins) works really well. Usually high egts in a desiel is from too much fuel/low boost.

Make yourself a mainfold J pipe or custom manifold, A good sized turbo. T28 or tdo5 are bout right sized with standard pump, can go bigger turbo if pump modded,Good sized intercooler (top or front mount). 3in exhuast

Or as others have said the dsr kits are pretty good.

Was goin to use water /meth injection to lower air inlet temp it seems to be quite efficient on diesels from what i have researched ,

would be interested to hear how you get on with that. have heard theres a few guys in aussie are using it with good results.
Would have to be careful with the water injection being a deisel and all.

At 20psi and a standard pump, the onlyw ay you are getting massive egt's is due to really high inlet temp by not having any intercooling. (I/C, water meth whatever) And also the turbo is too small to efficiently supply that much air. There is a big difference between providing boost and increasing HP. Too many people think that lots of boost will provide HP when it the temp is too high then it doesn't increase power just increases temps. (due to air density)
The fact that there is huge amounts of smoke shows that there isn't enough air. Yet at 20psi the standard pump is at it's max so shouldn't be able to over fuel unless the inlet temps are so high that the air isn't very dense. Pre-cool the air and you'll get more power with less boost and less stress.

There are factory standard (internally) TD42's running way more than 20psi and doing it reliably. The key is keeping the temps low and there are a few tricks to doing this. A mate's work truck is running 25psi and it's egt's stay below 550*C and he drive's it hard. My old truck ran 21psi and that had egt's of less than 550*C as well but it was I/C.

i will be doing a water meth setup soon when time alows then set up the mixtures etc on the dyno at work , and no the exhaust housing on the turbo isnt big enough to run that higher boost hense why i am running 7 as the truck owes me no money and i dont want to start spending any lol drifting and morgages does that for me , cheers for the advice as well im not that familular with tuning diesels are there specific things you can modify in the pump to increase the flow ?

other than just turning the fuel screw up you'll need to look at gettin pump mods done. Easy 2grand to do properly.

If you wanna keep costs down focus on gettin the intake temps as low as you can, set the boost you want then adjust the fuel delivery to keep the egts in the safe zone ie no more than 600c for long periods.Taken pre turbo

A real easy way to understand deisels is treat them the exact opposite of a petrol. With a deisel you just keep putting fuel in untill it melts! A quick guide to tuning is lots of black smoke when you put your foot down is OK but it should clear relatively quickly. If it keeps pumping out smoke then it is over fueling and will be running hot and not to mention wasting fuel as it won't be producing any more HP. If the exhuast is clear once on boost then it SHOULD be relatively safe if you're running normal boost.

But the only 100% correct way to check this is with a pyro gauge. 550 to 600*c pre turbo is no worries at all. At 700*c your engine has a life span of less than 1 minute!

All that being said you should be able to run easily up to 15psi with any aftermarket kit. 15psi is no big deal for this motor and can do it with no I/C as well.

had a gq running 30 psi that a would accel as hard as a maxima car got up around 700 on the ex temp day in day out thrash thrash thrash went awesome,so youll be sweet for 30psi

Be very very careful to what advice you give people as they will take it literally! If you fully inderstand what you are saying and are happy that, the gauge was acurate and that the truck actually did enough hard K's to prove the results and you are willing pay when someone follows your advice and blows their truck, then give the advice. If you can't answer all of these questions positively then don't give the advice!
What I have said above about TD42 limits is based upon many years and numerous people running this motor (myself included) and the combined knowledge of people way smarter than me.
I personally know people (that I trust) that are running more than 30psi and getting hugh power but they haven't just bolted a turbo on and wound up the fuel.
Also the time that most damage happens with a modified deisel isn't at full boost but on the way there. So if you don't know what you are doing then you could just fit a big turbo and wind the fuel up. This would give big boost and hp but the motor could be overfueling (and over heating) and low boost.

So tell us more as 30psi and reliable is possible but it aint a bolt on turbo kit!

was bloody fast as well, correct me if im wrong dean but you didnt run any intercooler at the time aye?
