changing 04 ford courier 2.5 turbo diesel oil filter

Be grateful for advice on ford courier diesel 2.5 turbo 04 oil filter change. Manual no help. Want to DIY.

Pretty easy.

Drop both sump guards off (only really need to take back one off but easier to do both). drain oil. Cover passenger side suspension bits under filter with rags (you will dump oil on them) Reach in through wheel arch and rubber inner guard and undo filter. Heres where it gets messy you need to get it out without tipping it upside down, replace filter and sump plug refil with oil ( I forget how much) replace bash plates done.

Many thanks meatc...why did the sods put it there?
I shall see if I can slide a plastic cap over the filter once free of the engine to prevent the spill. Pity they don't supply same with each new filter...cost about 5 cents!
I'm expecting the oil to cost about 60 and the filter 30 but to get a workshop to do the job.....another 100

i stick a plastic bag around the oil filter on my terrano when i change it, that catches most of the oil that pours out.
