Don't take this too heavily :)
Because you're a member of a club doesn't mean you have to go to all or any? of the meetings ( well over three quarters of 4wd club members in NZ would never go to a meeting)
but it sounds as tho lots like the idea of a membership of a club type set up (to get Access/insurance benefits) although don't want to be members of a regular 4wd club for a number of reasons - perhaps because of the old-school and over regulation orientated some have become :? .

NZFWDA struggles with recruiting younger members and from what I see on here, there is many more younger people - must be something in that :?:

ORE 4wd club and have a couple restricted forums like you already run maybe?

This man is on the money here :!: :!:

Thread is gettin hi-jacked a little with the club debate but I'll reiterate my comment:

ORE is the "ONE and ONLY" place we have in NZ for 4WDers to get together ( online or trips ) that is NOT a club with all the attached BS. If you want to support the NZFWDA or a club then go out an join an existing one. NZ has so many clubs now but only one ORE don't destroy that !

sorry rant over and out

If you recall, the club idea was mentioned as a possible way of generating revenue for running the site. Club membership fee could run the site server etc etc. I agree with your sentiments "ORE is the "ONE and ONLY" place we have in NZ for 4WDers to get together ( online or trips ) that is NOT a club with all the attached BS". It would not be kool to loose that side of it.

mike wrote:Don't worry mike ORE is never going to become a club. A small club is going to shoot off the side of ORE so that we can get cheap insurance for our week long trips. It gives land owners assurance for us to enter their property. For those just going up the river beds or public tracks its not an issue but for those of us that head onto private land and forests etc it is. It will be so low key I bet you dont even notice it exists

My guess would be that you will have a Club forum, open to members only to view, much like the trip leaders forum. Club stuff will only be disscussed in that forum.
The other forums will be as they are and unaffected in anyway by the club. It is then purely free choice as to wether you join or not, and either way you go, it has no effect on how you can enjoy the site as the two are seperated. Any Club BS will be in the Club forums, not in the public forums. There is no reason why trips couldn't be organised the way they are, and if NZ4WDA membership is required for a trip, you just join the club. Doesn't mean you have to participate in the BS, its just an easy way to NZ4WDA membership

But anyway.........................Now i'm thread jacking

Still think Membership would be a good way to generate revenue to run the site ;)

Can I suggest you start another thread for that? This one is too important to keep getting thread-jacked.

some members would be into the club thing for the fact that it gets access. Land owners would be much more inclined to give access to a club rather than an individual. I agree on keeping the club seperate though to the site though.
