Toyota Surf 2.4 Petrol

Hey fellas was just wondering if anybody has had anything to do with these 2.4 petrol surfs? just wanting to know about the engine i.e if it chews through the gas and how reliable they are. cheers

Hi, the 2.4 petrol is the 22r engine. they are great, use a bit of fuel, especially after big tyres and a body lift are added. I had one for a few years, never let me down. they are simple to work on, and chain driven. the only problem is the alternater is at the bottom of the engine bay, so when driving through mud they dont last too long, pays to keep a spare in the garage...

Alright cheers mate. One thing though, how much petrol did yours actually use? are they really bad on fuel? cheers for your advice appreciated.

I think i was getting about 300 to 350 kms per tank, but saying that i dont drive like a granny though. but what you do to the truck will generally have a detrimental effect on fuel comsumption. then when your offroading it gets worse....
