never looked under a lux but the gearbox and transfer case will both have seperate filler and drain plugs

sounds like you've found the fillers on the side, coz of gravity the drain plugs will have to be at the bottom of the housings caked in mud somewhere unless toyota designed some sort of way of overiding gravity to get the fluids out

Thats why I couldnt figure it out, cos there was nothing on the actual bottom of the box :? There was one on the side (quite low but not enough to get all the fluids out) but apart from that I couldnt see anything else except the filler bungs.

Maybe they put it on the side so that you can drain them in their natural position (on their side)

It should be on the side , near the rear , near the bottom.

I think you need one of those suction cerringe things with the hose like you have to fill the diff head my filler for the gearbox is on the side also but as you know I have an Isuzu but that makes no difference as some things are kept to a standard.

I think with my truck I can remove the drive shaft from the back of the gear box and let the fluid drain that way but I carn't be arsed doing that.

Not to sure if you are able to do that.

I see that you have already have found it  pays to read the whole thread before I post something  .
