1994 Pajero 3.5 V6 Petrol vs 2.8 Turbo Diesel

Hi Guys,
I am looking to buy a pajero and found these two cars, one petrol on diesel, can you please advise which one to buy, details as follows:

Both cost $3500 and both are 1994 year model

3.5 V6, 160000km, swb DOCH twin cam

2.8 TD, 220000km, lwb

I am fine with either 2dr or 4dr. Just the two engine, from their performance, durability, comfort, off road ability and value for money? which one is better?

Both these motors are good. Buy whichever one is in better condition... The petrol is heavy on the fuel.

I dont really care about the fuel cost, because it is overrall will be even, Diesel in NZ have on road cost.

By the on and off road performance and handling, which one is better?

Petrol for performance, as PJB said though, expensive to run... Overall it is not even.

Just to add an opinion - if money is not an issue for you then I would take the petrol every time, especially with the lower mileage. As suggested, even with RUC's the diesel is likely to be cheaper to run.

Parts are going to be easy to come by for both models and they should have plenty of life left in them, so I'd say you're not going to go too wrong either way.

Thank you guys, bought a 1995 Pajero 2.8 TD 200,000km on clock, but the owner said he changed the engine, so the real km maybe lower. 3dr. Running good.
