Zeph's Next 80 Build / Workshop Mess / Hilux Hmmm

Post by zephyrheaven »

Oh well, the old one gave up (run bearings what a suprise) so I sold it & hated 80's for a bit - wanted a 100 for a softroader - I even looked at GU's ick!?!
Then this beastie popped up cheap - factory lockers & winch all standard - hadnt done anything in its time in NZ (was a very wealthy couple's 'escape' vehicle from their $$$$$ ranch in Central for bad weather - so grabbed it
The joy of misspelling 'landcruisier' in TM search - was a bargain

Looked like this:

Now looks like this
Image
3" Dobi's - still not 100% sure I like them
Raw's
16" rims - 305/70/16 Bighorns, Hankook wouldnt order me 315/75/16's the mugs - I dont really like the 305's (too small @ 34") but meh I will wear em out unless someone wants to make an offer lol
Got an ironman bar this time, I liked my custom bar but wanted something a little more modernish looking - does that make sense?
Tints soon & a roof tray - if anyone is selling an ARB one would be nice ha ha - then an awning blah blah

Oh & it needs some drawers in the back real bad

Oh & this happened a week after I bought the 80 so kinda slowed progress
Image

Still got my DC but stalling on cert (want to supercharge the 2.8 or turbo maybe before I see Wayne so its all on the tin plate)
So its parked up pretty much gathering dust ha
Was VERY handy after the big shake, Talfourd Place (next to AMI stadium) was flooded in minutes - when I left there was a hump as high as a Subaru wagon down one bit & it was 4WD / Low to get out

Image

Springs need to come out for another massage but hey - who's got time for that kinda thing

Cheers, good to be back

Went & hooned around in Central Otago over 2 weeks at Xmas:

Truck is a dream - but needs more power, spoke to Kaiapoi Repowers whom say they can extract some good HP out of the 4.2TD with a few mods so that sounds good

Road to Fraser Dam - be wicked fun in winter, was dry as when I was there
