we had ower culb meeting on tuesday and was told that any body lift will need a cert no matter how big or small it is.

being part of a club sounds like a bit of a fairy tale, needing a cert sounds plausible, following big brother australia...

Just to help better interpret Coxys post into english:

A 50mm lift will be legal

Over 50mm of lift will require a LVVC to obtain a WOF

100mm of lift and over will require LVVC and proof of 4x4 club and NZ4WDA membership.


Im my opinion its a complete joke.

Its just more bullshit and red tape bureaucracy.

The current rules are fine. They just aren't policed properly.

Typical confusion from Coxsy.

A brief summary
NZTA want to ban or severely limit lifted vehicles.
At present you are allowed up to 50mm suspension lift without a modified vehicle certification. All body lifts no matter how small need certification.
NZFWDA are represented on the LVVA and have been making submissions.
To allow some sort of lift the proposal is for no more than 50mm spring/suspension lift and no more than 50mm body lift. Body lifts would need to be approved or certified by certain specialist certifiers.
Because of concerns regarding the ability of people to drive safely with vehicles with body lifts only people who have 'proved' themselves as bona fide off road drivers will be allowed to have lifted vehicles. To prove you do drive off road, you will need to belong to a Club affiliated to the NZFWDA and will apply and receive a card that lasts only for 12 months. As you renew your membership the card will be renewed as well.
If you sell the vehicle the card is not transferable and would not allow others to legally drive your vehicle.

Whilst I can see what they are trying to achieve, I agree with Dieselboy, it is nothing but pen pushers just making life difficult for those that follow the rules and the people that don't care about safety now and will run dangerously high and un-certed vehicles will continue to do so.

It doesn't matter what sort of interests you have, there is always some dickhead at the top with no clue making bullshit rules.

So if you currently own a vehicle that is lifted more than 100mm and is certified and road legal, does this mean that suddenly your vehicle will be illegal???

I work full time driving and operating 6X6 airport fire vehicles, have done for just under 20yrs, they cost 1.4 million each and weigh 36 tonnes a piece.
Now thanks to some bullshit red tape and FukFace tosspot's I have to prove my ability on the road to operate a pussy arse <50mm lifted vehicle

Hadley "secert squirrel" it was discussed in detail at the recent NZFWDA conference, to which every member was invited. your delegate should be providing feedback to every club. There will be an article sent to every member via Trail Torque shortly but I need a a little time to sort some details before I am able to provide a full update. I am very happy to answer specific questions and receive realistic suggestions either via this forum or via private message. I do however prefer that people put their real name to messages and questions.
