Got my snorkel all sorted, but before i try too hard going through any deep water, there is just a couple of things i want to sort in the terrano.

Rear diff breather will need extending, i know that, Does the front diff and gearbox go to the same one? high on the firewall?

And also, door seals, Are they cheap/easy to replace? mine leaks when im water-blasting it... so its definitely gonna leak going through rivers....

the front and gearbox breathers both go into one and comes out at top or drivers guard well it does on mine hope that helps

What he said about front diff gbox and transfer, the rear diff is just short.

The door sealls were shit in both of my terranos so dont count on new 1s being better

dont worry bout door seals mate i find it better that water can flow in and drain out just as quick

cheers guys, yeah thought that was the case, I'll get a couple of metres of vacuum hose and joiner for the rear diff, then ill be sorted.

oh yeah i suppose thats true, I just didnt really want it getting in due to it molding/rusting inside??

When I got stuck in the middle of a river and flooded my old pajero I just considered it well cleaned
Well that's what I put on the trademe add.

leave windows down a crack and park in the sun for few days or wat i do is chuck a dehumidifier in the truck for a days that works a treat

Yeah true, What about that moisture absorbing stuff they use in containers? would a block of that under the seat be allgood?

that wood work i guess dehumidifier way better tho

Firewall and drivers guard are where my breathers are. The rear diff one I extended to under the rear seat, through a rubber bung there.

Door seals are shite as are the front door window seals.
Best thing is to make your carpet quick removable and take it out before you get it wet. It's a bugger to dry out!

Yeah, rip the carpet out, or make it easily removable. IMHO, when in deep (esp. swift) river crossings you want water in the truck to help stop you floating ie. wore traction. Its an interesting feeling being pushed downstream. Wont have to worry about that up the ashley thou
Having better door seals would be useful for most circumstances thou. A mate suggested trying some of that stick on door/window draft stop stuff, the stick on sponge strip. Stick it to the body were the original seal touches, and maybe the extra pressure will help. Let me know if it works The plastic step/trim that holds the carpet down has big holes under it that lets water in thru the sills. I use these holes to flush my sills periodically.

I just put a bead a silacone on the factory seals worked a treat when in bogs for extended periods. Not that I have carpets to worry about.

I too flooded a pajero in a river (got stuck, water up to my chest when sitting in the driver seat).

First thing I did was strip carpets, seats, except drivers and left them in the sun.

Drove to panelbeater and they put it in the bake oven for a couple of hours, cost about $80.00, cleared most of the actual wetness.

Then dehumidifier for about 2 days in the vehicle and came out sweet.

There are so many other places that water comes in, I wouldn't worry about the door seals. Just take the carpets out and use floor mats instead as much easier to clean.

If you can leave the car outside on a good day with doors and windows open, take out as much as possible. then went to petrol station used thier vacume to clean up the dried mud etc, then got a bag of the deoderizing moisture removing stuff and left it under the seat.
